Executive Director

Reports to: Board of Directors

Direct Reports: Office Manager, Development Coordinator


  • Bachelor’s or higher degree

  • Business operations experience required

  • Non-profit management experience desired

  • Clergy, Lay Leader in his/her faith community, or Counseling Background

  • Training in, or familiarity and buy in with the model of Faith-integrated counseling and Healing prayer utilized by Life Resources

Scope of Duties:


1. Shared responsibility with staff and therapists for leading the ministry to a place of professional excellence, high reputation, therapeutic effectiveness, growing income, and financial sustainability, while fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration.


2. Oversight of all business and non-profit operations, working closely with Office Manager, Development team, and Bookkeeper/CPA

3. Primary liaison with Board for all business and non-profit operations

4. Work with key staff and Board to liaise with church partners, businesses, and local clergy and leaders to build strategic alliances, assess needs for events, seminars, groups, and other opportunities for the ministry.

5. Optimize and enhance the Ministry’s impact in the community by leveraging and directing team to provide paid programming and community service events which are high quality and meet the needs of the greater Charleston community.


6. Oversee staff to ensure all contributions are cost effective and sufficiently impactful.

7. Provide periodic reviews and professional development for staff.

8. Ultimate authority for all personnel decisions regarding staff.

Community Impact

9. Work in tandem with development manager, founder, and board to actively develop friendships and alliances with influential and well-resourced people in the community to build a robust network of loyal supporters.

10. Serve with development manager, founder, and board to cultivate relationships with the religious, civic, press, non-profit, and healthcare communities to favorably effect referrals and new opportunities for the Center.

11. Explore and oversee any future grant opportunities.

12. Oversee creation of the annual fundraising plan in conjunction with marketing/development team and Board of Directors.


13. Support operations staff with upkeep and oversight of physical and intellectual property of Life Resources, including lease renewals and interface with landlord.


14. Assist Operations staff in preparation of a balanced annual budget for approval of the Board of Directors.

15. Prepare annual reports and work with CPA in preparation for all tax reporting.


16. Prepare annual strategic goals in conjunction with the development manager and clinical director for approval of the Board of Directors.

Board of Directors

17. Develop potential board member relationships. Cultivate relationships with Board members, seeking their wisdom (but not operational direction) and meet regularly with the Board Chairman/ Executive committee to foster strong alignment.

Work Environment

  • Work on-site and off-site

  • Participate in weekly meetings

  • Occasional evening and weekend work

  • Part-time average 20-25 hpw

  • Compensation commensurate with skills and experience

Development Coordinator

Reports to: Executive Director


  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher

  • Previous fundraising/ non-profit or sales experience required

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with a broad spectrum of individuals, professional organizations and highly accomplished staff

  • Roots in community or strong local network desirable

  • Comfortable with and passionate about the mission of Life Resources

Required Skills:

  • Ability to passionately articulate the Ministry’s mission and needs to the community

  • Strong planning competencies, verbal and written communication skills, public speaking

  • Proficiency to plan and execute creative fundraising events within a budget

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Proficient in software programs such as Microsoft Office, Publisher, Mail merging (eg., (Mail Chimp), and Social Networking platforms



1. Plan and implement a relationship strategy with major donors and key partner churches and organizations

2. Network through current donors to locate new donor prospects

3. Ownership of all event planning and execution in collaboration with key staff

4. Arrange for major donors and those with influence to interact with the Founder, Executive Director, and Board in order to a) increase community awareness of the Ministry’s programs, and b) drive increased referrals and funding to the Center

5. Represent the Ministry in various settings to arrange speaking engagements for key team members to enhance community awareness and donor development

6. Primary Oversight and management of all Donor contact and database software


7. Develop and oversee marketing plan with Executive Director, and other key staff including implementation all written, verbal, and Social Media communication

Work Environment:

  • Can work from both home and office

  • Participation in weekly meetings on site

  • Occasional evening and weekend work

  • Part time average 15-20 hpw

  • Compensation commensurate with skills and experience
