All of us struggle with difficult life issues during the course of our lives and many of us have personally experienced times when we need the wisdom and support of a trustworthy professional. Life Resources offers a unique blend of licensed professionals who all work from what is called an integrated model. In addition to sound scientific training, our therapists seek to bring the presence and power of Jesus Christ into the counseling room. This allows them to offer a depth of healing and restoration in relationships that can only come from God.
Life Resources became a non-profit organization in November of 2014 in our desire to make these services available to those who cannot afford private mental health care. Our scholarship assistance has grown more than 45% in just the first 4 months of this year as our services are becoming better known!
The team at Life Resources values integrity in all we do and we endeavor to live what we offer to others to the best of our ability. Earlier this year, we underwent an extensive process through the South Carolina Psychological Association to evaluate our organization as a psychologically healthy workplace. This process included extensive written questionnaires as well as a site visit that culminated in confidential, personal interviews with all members of our team. We are excited to announce that Life Resources was selected as one of only three winners in the South Carolina and the only business in the Lowcountry to receive the award!
The PHWA nominees are evaluated based on five areas: employee involvement, work-life balance, employee growth and development, health and safety, and employee recognition. The award program highlights a variety of workplaces, including large and small, profit and non-profit organizations. Life Resources won in the Small, Non-profit category.
Dr. Leslie Besselieu, a chairperson from the SCPA award program said, "Life Resources demonstrates their commitment to employee well-being through its practices related to Employee Growth and Development, Employee Involvement and Work-Life Balance. In our meetings with individual employees, a frequent theme centered around the openness in communication and flexibility of work schedules. One employee stated "We really love coming to work!" and another one expressed with a note of amazement, "I'm doing exactly what the Lord created me to do and I'm getting paid for it!"
In celebration, we hope you will be able to join us for the 2016 South Carolina Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award Ceremony, Monday, May 16, 2016. The event will be in the Wellbrock Parish Hall at the Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul in downtown Charleston from 5:30 to 6:30pm. Light hors d’oeuvres and wine will be served with a presentation of the award at 6:00 by Dr. Leslie Bessilieu from Columbia. A brief explanation of how Life Resources is becoming a key resource for healing and wellbeing in the Charleston community will follow with an opportunity for questions. All are welcome to come and are encouraged to bring a friend. We hope to see you there!
