Life Resources hosted the 2016 South Carolina Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award (PHWA) Ceremony on Monday, May 16th with a great turnout including Life Resources’ therapists, administrative staff, prayer ministers and Seeds of Life Board members. Also in attendance were long-time supporters and donors as well as community members interested in learning more about the mission and vision of Life Resources.
The ceremony began with Dr. Leslie Besselieu, Chairperson of the South Carolina Psychological Association’s (SCPA) award program who gave a brief explanation of the PHWA and the process nominees are required to complete to be considered for the recognition. After being presented with the award, Founder and Director, Dr. Barbara Boatwright, shared about the organization’s progress toward the goal of becoming a key hub for personal and relational healing and reconciliation in Charleston. Life Resources also received a congratulatory letter from South Carolina Governor, Nikki Haley, applauding the center for its excellence in business and our service to the community.
Dr. Boatwright stated, “The fact that this award evaluates the psychological and relational health of an organization makes this recognition particularly meaningful, as our team believes that we can only offer to others what we live out on a daily basis.”
Life Resources was one of three South Carolina businesses to receive this recognition. Nominees are evaluated based on five areas: employee involvement, work-life balance, employee growth and development, health and safety, and employee recognition. The award program highlights a variety of workplaces, including large and small, profit and non-profit organizations and is given out annually on both state and national levels. Life Resources is the only business in the Lowcountry to receive the 2016 award.
We want to thank everyone who attended for their continued support of Life Resources and for making the event a success. We specifically thank Dr. Leslie Besselieu and Dr. David Mulligan from the SCPA for their service on the awards committee, the staff at the Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul for providing the space to host the event, and Debbie Marlowe from The Wine Shop of Charleston for providing the wine.
